What is a hair toner? does it come in different colors?
i just got highlights 2 weeks ago but my hair looks yellow with orange i wanna get like ash blonde highlights and someone said to put a toner but i dont know what it is and how it works. which would be the best brand?
I got highlights... when my color starts to fade, can I apply new toner myself?
The lady used this blue bleach thing on my hair to bleach in highlights, then applied toner and let it sit for 10 minutes to make them red. She said I can go back every month and get it done a new color or the same color for six months without having to redo the highlights. This would cost me $40 dollars a month, and it seems like a pretty easy process - apply it to your whole head, let it sit ten minutes, wash out. Hi i usually do my own hair color and use toners, just go to sally beauty and tell them what color toner you need, if you dont have to redo your highlights you can definately do the toner on your own and it will cost you like $5 at the most... mix toner with devoper put on for like 5 minutes or maybe even 10 depending how dark you want the hair to come out, toners work pretty quickly i apply mine for about 4 minutes and it takes the color in right away, just go to sally and get the color toner you need, you really cant mess up on this, its pretty simple.

This happend before I bleached it %26amp; put this toner in %26amp; then it turned it this ugly color! i was so mad so i did a bleach wash %26amp; it was back to how I had it, but that is very damaging %26amp; i don't think i can do it again..but ya my mom took me to the salon %26amp; they toned it %26amp; now its ugly gold when it was platnum with some little yellow spots in it, i could have just used purple shampoo, shimmer lights but, pleasse before school what should i do to get it back to that blonde, i can take a pic of my hair to show you, %26amp; to how it was.. You can see a huge difference %26amp; now its not as blonde:( I was crying so much after it took me forever to get this light %26amp; the toner just compleltely made my work for nothing.. :(

don't put bleach on your hair again, it's not good to put bleach on hair that is already bleached, your hair could break off..i had a really bad experience with that while i was in cosmetology school
use shimmer lights anyways- it will help with the color. Or the shampoo and conditioner by Redken called Blonde Glam is really good for blonde hair- but it's on the expensive side.
wait a few weeks and go back to the hair dresser and have her get all of the yellow/gold tones outlayouts for myspace

Does a laser printer waste more toner on some colors than others?
What I mean is that it takes cyan and yellow to make red, now when it makes a dot on the paper is it actually one cyan dot over a yellow dot or is it a cyan dot right next to a yellow dot that appears to be Red due to the small size?Does a laser printer waste more toner on some colors than others?
There are really only 3 colors. so depending on the color, yes and about the over laping thing... the colors will over lap each other to make other colors, so its like how you do paintings, you mix them

Yes but try to wait cause your hair 'died' wait for it get stronger then dye it blonde again or use a toner
Your hair is now fragile, because of the chemicals. Wait a while, then maybe die it back, or go to the salon, and have it chemically stripped. It's a long, boring process, but worth it if you wanna look your best.

That's what ash does. It is a non-yellow blonde. Try using a golden blonde instead. Check with your hair dresser to see how long you need to wait to safely use another color. Having your hair break off or fall out would probably not be an improvement.

Silver toner in particular is quite potent usually and must not be used for too long or else it will turn your hair grey, so it is likely that you have used the toner too long.

I was told this by a hairdresser when I first started dying my hair platinum-blonde, and I had to use yellow-neutralising shampoo to combat this.

This method is quick and simple and involves going to a pharmacy or supermarket and buying a blonde-toner for white/grey hair.
Whether excessive use of toner will damage your hair or not, I'm not sure.
It may be good to ask a hairdresser or even get it done by one (It may cost a lot though).

This was about a week ago and I don't know what to do...I want to go a bit darker because the whole thing is too damn light...grrrr!! If I buy a medium brown hairdye at the drugstore, will that turn my highlights green or hide them completely??? Is there a toner that does not remove hair color at ALL?
I heard that you can use a semi-permanent hair color like natural instincts to tone down color in your hair and get a nicer blonde color (it was too yellow)...so I bought a box of (med ash blonde) to try to cancel out the reddish color in my (highlighted hair-med reddish brown base and light blonde)...
My my blonde came out..BUT my base got lighter TOO...not what I wanted..so my hair lost all the highlights!!!!

It wasn't necessary to use a toner at all. The best thing for you to do would be to buy John Frieda's Sheer Blonde or Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner. Depending which you buy it will boost your color or tone it down. It works very well and keeps your hair color looking natural and strong.
