What's the story with color toner refills?

Are all bulk toners essentially compatible with the same printer? I have a Dell 3100cn, and am finding that the DIY refill kits are nearly as expensive as the factory cartridges. However, will other bulk toner refills still work with my model? Do all printers use a different formula/mixture for the toner??

I'd really like to find another source for color toner and save some $$$...What's the story with color toner refills?
go back to hp, or othre mfgr. dell is too strict . . . and you can find off brands/remanufactured toners pretty cheap for other mfgr's faster. What's the story with color toner refills?
Problem with toner refills is different than with inkjet refill. You should buy specific toner refill for your Dell 3100cn printer.

I can recommend to you this company

looks like price twice less than compatible cartridges. Report Abuse

Dell has low capacity cartridges and high capacity cartridges, the high capacity are usually double the pages. Toner refills from 123Refills are less than 1/2 the price of the high capacity dells. See www.123refills.net Report Abuse

Unless it says specifically not to use it then yes. I've used bulk toners with my old printer, you won't get the quality and you DO risk your machine but as most these days often have the heads as a buyable thing (ie if your printer cartriges come in expensive or not expensive models - one the cartrige the other the cartrige with the heads as well) then it's probably okay.

Your best bet is asking the manufacturer but they'll tend to tell you to use their own ink (of course they would they make money outa their inks).

If you're printing assignments n junk go for it, why waste money?
