I have a Brother MFC-7420 and I'm unclear about whether I should replace the toner cartridge or the drum unit. What's the difference and which one should I purchase?

YOU JUST NEED TO BUY THE TONER---UNLESS YOU'RE GETTING A MESSAGE TO REPLACE THE DRUM. THE CARTRIDGE WILL GIVE YOU ABOUT 2500 COPIES PER---THE DRUM WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER ABOUT 12,000 COPIES---BUT I WOULDN'T CHANGE IT UNTIL YOU ARE GETTING A MESSAGE TO DO SO.Drum unit or toner cartridge?
It depends on what's wrong with your printer. Are you having problems? if so what are the printer's symptoms?
