What is the best way to dispose / destroy used FAX toner catridges to avoid private information theft?

I tried shredding it but that was a mess. What about soaking in bucket of soap water or gasoline to disolve it or something?

If it is an actual toner cartridge, there isn't really anywhere that information would be preserved, unless the drum is part of the cartridge, in which case the only thing possibly preserved would be an extremely faint ghost of the last page printed.





If it is a transfer ribbon based cartridge, then you would have to physically destroy the ribbon inside the cardridge. You could possibly heat it to melt it, but be careful to not actually burn it, or toxic fumes could be released.What is the best way to dispose / destroy used FAX toner catridges to avoid private information theft?
